Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies
Our Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies programmes explore the fundamental concepts which define and have defined the human experience within the areas of anthropology, theology, philosophy, religion studies, and ethics.
Religion and Theology have been deeply embedded in the University’s history since 1822 and whilst rooted in an area which is rich in religious heritage. Our programmes also provide insights into the religious diversity of the 21st-century world, reflecting the significance of religion’s role in societies.
Alongside this our Anthropology and Philosophy programmes explore the richness of human existence and thought through a diverse range of topics which encourage the development of core skills highly prized by employers.
As you engage with the different ideas and concepts of these programmes you will gain a critical awareness of human society and be able to clearly and logically articulate what it means to be human.
